Pre-flight blog kick off!

08/29/18

Pre-flight:
I find myself once more sitting in an airport get ready to start another year abroad. While it is not necessarily a novel experience, I find the familiar sensations of excitement and nervousness a comfort. I’ve lived in Taiwan and China ( with brief stint in Japan, long before I was writing out the travel blog), and I find myself drawn back to Taiwan. Instead of NTNU, I will be attending NTU’s (National Taiwan University/國立臺灣大學)  International Chinese Language Program. The language development is a long process, but after nearly two years in New York City, I am ready to get back to a Mandarin speaking city.
Leading into leaving for Taipei, there were mild difficulties. Mostly trying to get a visa in a timely manner, doing the required medical tests, and trying to figure out my housing. All of that was completed, and I believe I will be alright to start this next step in the long journey of my education, and life. The goal for now is to continue improving my Chinese and hopefully successfully apply for a PhD program for the upcoming school year. I’ve blogged all of my study abroad experiences, and having reviewed them recently I realize how much I change in a single year. We’ll see what plans are by the time I return back to the US. As for now I’m waiting for currency exchange to open so I can get a really terrible exchange rate for some New Taiwan Dollar(NTD). Always land with a bit of cash! Now to be an airport gremlin until they decide to let me get on the plane. Until next time!!
